The Cavendish is the banana you already know. But you have probably never had one grown like this.
These are grown at Conscious Ground in the Byron Bay hinterland on a certified organic agroforest farm, in living soil that has been regenerated over years of careful, intentional work. No synthetic fertilisers, no post-harvest treatments, no wax coating. Just a familiar fruit grown the right way, which makes a bigger difference than you might expect.
Creamy, mildly sweet and satisfying, the Cavendish is the most versatile banana in the kitchen. It is the one that does everything well.
How to use:
- Eat fresh at any stage of ripeness, from firm and starchy to soft and sweet.
- Slice into porridge, cereal or yoghurt bowls.
- Blend into smoothies as a natural thickener and sweetener.
- Freeze overripe bananas whole and blend for one-ingredient ice cream.
- Mash into banana bread, pancakes, muffins or cakes. The riper the better for baking.
- Slice and pan-fry in butter with a pinch of cinnamon and a drizzle of honey.
How to store:
Store at room temperature away from direct sunlight. Do not refrigerate as cold temperatures damage the flesh and turn the skin black. To slow ripening, keep away from other fruit. To speed it up, place in a paper bag overnight. Once fully ripe, peel and freeze for smoothies and baking.
