Apples Red (Sundowner) - Certified Organic
Apples Red (Sundowner) - Certified Organic
Crisp, sweet red apples from the Stanthorpe growing district in Queensland. Certified organic, unwashed and unwaxed, so what you get is just the apple.
They're the apple that ends up in every school bag and beach bag in our house, and they hold their crunch even on a warm Northern Rivers day.
Variety changes with the season and what's picking well, but they're always good for crunching on, cooking with or slicing into a lunchbox.
In the kitchen
- Sliced with peanut butter for an easy afternoon snack
- Grated into bircher muesli the night before
- Stirred through spring rhubarb for a crumble
- Thinly sliced into a fennel and rocket salad
How to prepare
Give them a wash just before eating. To stop slices browning in the lunchbox, toss them in a squeeze of lemon.
Spring recipe: Apple, fennel and rocket salad
Thinly slice an apple and a fennel bulb, toss with a handful of rocket, toasted macadamias and shaved parmesan. Dress with olive oil, lemon juice and a pinch of salt. Lovely next to anything off the barbecue.
How to store
Keep them in the crisper drawer of the fridge, away from leafy greens. They'll stay crisp for a couple of weeks.
Available in 500g and 1kg.
